Wat do mean it's 1 of 3, do u mean they have split all their eles into 3 herds?? If so , surely this is quite unusual 4 a zoo to do??

I think it was two breeding groups because the dominanat animals clashed, and then there's the bull and a femal companion split between three exhibits. It's a shame they can't all be housed together because then they'd all get access more space.

This is a pretty good idea, I've never seen this done in zoos before, but it makes the herd sizes more like what they would be in the wild. But does this mean that the elephant house has 3 seperate areas indoors, because from what I've seen there is only one, however I have only seen it in pictures.

cool photo,

but it wouldn't surprise me that elephants seperate into different groups in zoos, espicially if they go into the zoo as a group and they meet the resident group one matirach doesn't usually want to lay down.

In the bullenclosure live 1,0 Hussein and 0,1 Mala. She is so dominant that she cant go to the others. The two have their own house.
On the big enclosure live 1,0 Thai, 0,1 Thura, 0,1 Shandra and 0,1 Mogli.
On the old rhino-enclosure (rebuild for elephants) live 1,0 Sharukh, 0,1 Yashoda, 0,1 Kandy, 0,1 Shila and 0,1 Lai Sinh.

Father of all calves is Hussein, here the mothers and their calves:

Thura: Thai
Yashoda: Kandy; Sharukh
Lai Sinh: Shila

In exchange one of the female hears is in the boxes indoors, the other is then in the big indoors.

Elephants begging!! Really hate seeing this.
The fence to hold back the smaller ones that a adult has stradled.

Are these not concerns?

The fences are in front of every moat of this enclosure, not only there where you can feed. So the babys can't fall in.
If there are no visitors with food the elephants doing other things than standing at the moat. Its just some kind of getting food. If they had some thing as enrichment where it takes them long to get food no one would say anything. But as soon it has something to do with the visitors everyone goes bad...

Its not a perfect solution, i see that too, but its not that horrible.

so I guess Hussein and Mala are in good company together?
