Elongate Loach (Leptobotia elongata)

Yangtze River Exhibit, July 28, 2024.
Haven't found evidence that this species had been posted before. Also known as imperial flower loach, it is the largest species in family Botiidae, reaching up to 50 cm in length and 3 kg in weight. They are found in flowing water in the upper and middle Yangtze basin in China, with adults migrating upstream to spawn between March and May. A vulnerable species, they are now listed as a Grade II protected species in China.
