Surely that's a good thing. Any extra space (even for one individual) is a bonus. And the cost would be quite minimal seeing as it's a few ropes in some established trees. Certainly cheaper than demolishing the house and rebuilding exhibits for all of the species present.
I feel sure these changes are being made mainly for the visitors' benefit, to allow them to see something different- e.g. 'Tamarins in Trees'. The same goes for the De Brazzas, its only one 'open-air' monkey enclosure out of very many. I am not knocking these changes here, but I do believe that is their main purpose.

I agree 100% with you,all these changes are for the visitors and not for the animals,give the visitors something nice and shiny and new to look at,so they don't look so hard at the cracks else where!
Correct me if I am wrong but primates can leap and jump,and I know I have seen Tamarins clear greater distance than the plastic on the trees,so I for one will not be worrying about a Tamarin falling out of the tree,and not been able to get back!
