Does this have a functioning tide? It looks like it could cope with tide-like fluctuations in water level. I don;t think that would necessarily make a good display, in that the average visitor wouldn't spend that long at an exhibit to notice gradual tidal changes, but it could be good for inhabitants. Does it have a wave machine? Better display.
 
It does have waves - the dark corner on the left is actually fairly deep, and so it seems that waves originate around that corner; small waves lap and spill on the shore all around the tank.
Interestingly, different fish have taken to exclusively occupying certain habitats; mullet stay in the sandy shallows, for instance. I think this effect might be lost if tides regularly changed these habitats.
