One of the park's major attractions. The Tropical hall has a general tropical theme rather than representing a specific habitat or area and is populated by species from different continents.
For some reason (whether it was avoiding having people in my pictures or forgetfulness on my part) I forgot to photograph the rest of the area directly behind the entrance.
That area was a bit strange, as instead of a gift shop (as one fairly commonly finds near the entrance of a zoo) there was an area that look somewhat like a tacky garden center or flea market with miscellaneous supposedly decorative items, at least some of which were gaudy, tacky or questionable (one can see a few Buddhas and lamps, or whatever they are, in the bottom right corner of the image above), but also some small plants. Quite strange to be honest, not something I've seen before.
There was also what seemed to be a staff room with in front of the window a small bird cage with a heating lamp above it. It housed a baby toucan, presumably being hand-raised.
And while I do not have pictures of this area, I did notice that some parts of Mondo Verde can actually be viewed via Google Streetview. However, the images date back to 2009 so they are a bit dated and quite some things have since changed. For example, regarding the entrance and entrance area: the entrance has since clearly repainted (from blue to the same burnt red seen in this picture), as have some of the walls in the entrance area. Signs on the walls about Mondo Verde's history and a tent-structure with a table underneath it for the various tacky items have also apparently been added since.
