Eurasian red squirrel

Sciurus vulgaris

A complex of three enclosures connected by an aerial walkway house several breeding pairs of red squirrels whose offspring have been reintroduced to places such as Anglesey and Mersea Islands.

The middle enclosure also houses a lone corncrake that stayed resolutely invisible- the main corncrake breeding area is off-view.
