The reindeer used to be kept in the Eurasian section because there wasn't an exhibit for them near the polar bears. When Tundra Trek was build the herd was relocated there. I think there's a good chance that when the current herd dies out they might just make the switch. But that's just a guess. A lot of that would likely depend on what the situation is with caribou in the AZA and CAZA. I think of the Canadian zoos only Calgary has caribou and they just stopped breeding them after the death of a calf. I could be wrong though. I think most have reindeer. Another factor may be the money the Canadian government might give the zoo to set up a breeding program for endangered woodland caribou. Who knows what the future will bring?
