Ex-Cassowary exhibit

Isn't it sad to see an abandoned exhibit in a zoo? I wonder if anybody has actively looked at getting Southern Cassowaries from Australia - it is sad to see just how uncommon they've become.

After a visit this week, more than 8 months on since this pic was taken, and the exhibit looks exactly the same. There is still even a sign next to it saying it's for the Stanley Cranes!

And the Blue Cranes have now gone, but they do have a Demoiselle Crane now, with more on the way. I expect most of the focus has been on the Bear Ravine.

I don't think this would be a particularly feasible option, certainly not of wild birds, but breeding in captivity is not at a level that would allow for export (assuming it got government approval). While captive birds are not currently being used for any release programmes (the species now being Endangered in Australia), the species is managed, with achieving consistent breeding success a priority. You'll have to breed them up yourselves! :D
