What did you think of the new exhibit? While it seems odd for an aquarium to debut a gallery with all-indoor enclosures for mammals such as clouded leopards, binturongs and small-clawed otters (the second otter exhibit at the facility), from a couple of older news articles it seemed as if the clouded leopard exhibit might only be a temporary home for the cats but the details on future plans were extremely vague.
Undoubtedly the aquarium has been a massive success, with more than a million visitors in its first year of operation. I'm sure that Expedition Asia will continue to make the establishment a premier attraction in an area that already has the excellent Hogle Zoo and top-class Tracy Aviary.
I liked the new set of exhibits, the quality seemed consistently good throughout. Live plants were used in all of the exhibits, and I was impressed with the height of the leopard and otter exhibits. Also, none of those rotating electronic signs that are present throughout the rest of the facility. I guess the downside to that choice is that many species were not signed in the enclosures they were in (birds, fish, etc).
