I managed to catch feeding time for the birds of the Ituri Forest Aviary. I had at first thought the platform shown was one for visitors to walk into the aviary, but sadly, it was for keepers only. This photo shows great white pelicans, yellow billed storks, and a shoebill.

I never understood and no keeper ever told me why they don't let guests into the aviary. The Shoebill isn't going to attack anyone and they aren't breeding anymore so it shouldn't be a problem. I heard a rumor that they might turn this into a Nile Hippo exhibit.
