Bibi's owner was Leipzig Zoo, she was born there in 1983 and was shipped to Marwell in 1995. Zupu, do you know her date of death and whether she became mother in Marwell??
Yes thats right , she sadly did not breed , although she did abort a premature foetus in the late 90s. She died in 2007 , I would need to check the date precisely . Her mate "Laurie" out-lived her by a few months. Zupu
Bibi died in the spring of 2007 , she was just short of 24yrs old , a very good age for this species which can live up to approx 28 yrs in confinement. The male "Laurie" subsequently died in early 2008 at just over 24yrs old , both died of age related symptoms. Marwell now have another pair which came from Whipsnade , the male is castrated. A new male is due to arrive shortly from Germany to re-pair with the current female. Hope that helps. Zupu.
She gave birth to 3 male anoas at Leipzig in the 80s. Her first son "Gert" (1986) is still living at Leipzig, her second son "Herbert" (1987) is living at London Zoo.....
