Final northern white rhino visit?

Nola (left) is the last northern white rhino at the San Diego Safari Park, and one of the last 5 individuals on the planet. She is very elderly and has recently had some health scares. It occurred to me that this may be the last time I see her, or her kind, and that was a very sad thought. She has a male southern white rhino to keep her company.

Is is true that the Safari Park had another Northern White Rhino that passed away a couple of years ago? And do you know how many of them where kept at the Safari Park besides Nola and Angalifu?

I have seen three there at one time, a male and two females. The male died in the fall of 2014 and the other female died a few years before that.

A small snippet in this weeks The Daily Telegraph stated the last wild male NW rhino now has an armed guard.

Does any one know if there are any noticeable difference between Northern and Southern white Rhino? size etc, or is it mainly genetic.?

The main difference between Northern And Southern White rhinos (at least as far as I could see) are the hairy ears. I was able to tell from the ears very well when I saw one at Dvur Kralove a few weeks ago. Not sure if there are any other differences.

(I can't really see the hairy ears in this photo though)
