I know that it's not always possible - but if I see a species I don't recognise at a zoo I try to take a quick photo of the label, it doesn't have to be wonderful so long as it is readable, but does save a lot of bewilderment if you have a busy visit and it's much faster than trying to make notes at the same time as taking photos.
@gentle lemur thank you! And yes I do try to photograph the signage for ones I know I won’t remember but I was particularly rushed on this visit! The aquarium was packed.
