Elephants and Alligators

Florida Wildlife Conservation Center - Woodlands

Once again, sorry for the wait.

out next area is the woodlands zone, home to forest dwelling animals!

Starting from left to right, we have

an enclosure for Ocelots

An aviary for Grinnell's Crested Eagles

an enclosure for Cougars (be careful, our older female has a taste for younger men…)

An enclosure for Grey Foxes

The biggest pull of this area, the Saber-Tooth Cat enclosure, home to a rescue pair who raise orphan Cubs.

an American Porcupine enclosure

the Large-Animal Area, home to…

Giant Ground Sloth
Jefferson’s Ground Sloth
Giant Anteater
Florida Spectacled Bear
Eastern Horse
Stout-Legged Llama
Long-Nosed Peccary
White-Tailed Deer
Humped Bison
And Wild Turkey

an American Treecat enclosure

an American Black Bear enclosures

an Aviary for Great Horned Owls

A Spotted Skunk enclosure

a Coyote enclosure

a Walkthrough Aviary home to various birds, include Grouse, Woodpeckers, Passenger Pigeon, and Crows

A Florida Macaw aviary

and the small animal house, with its most famous residents being the colony of rescued Vampire Bats, who aren’t as bad as people say they are.

Most animals are rescues, however, the Giant Ground Sloths and Macaws are housed in breeding groups, due to their endangered status, and our Saber Tooth’s are often given Cubs to foster and raise until they are old enough to be released!

also, the large animal area is 5 square miles in size, and most of the area is not visible here.
