When was the last time Milwaukee Zoo had polar bears?
Does the Milwaukee Zoo have a master plan that they are working from that will eventually modernize their bear, big cat, and hoof stock grottoes? Obviously they have been doing a lot of work lately with new elephant, antelope, and hippo exhibits. Is it known how much more of the zoo is slated for renovation?
@DavidBrown The zoos remaining polar bear died last year.
The zoo did have a master plan that was created many years ago, but a new director was recently brought in and now they're essentially redoing the whole thing. Construction of a new rhino complex starts in a few months, as well as revamping the main entrance and renovation/expansion of the penguin exhibit. Once these developments are finished, the plan is to begin work on a new Alaskan exhibit complex which will replace the existing North American exhibits (including the bear grotto pictured above).
