Looks interesting! Better than the old pool anyway. What is going to live here? Some kind of bear or small carnivore perhaps?

Not sure but bears was my first though. The zoo has Grizzlies, Asian Black and Malayan - I think the Malayans could look very good here.

My thoughts exactly even though I think that the Asian black is the one that needs improvements the most. The Malayans actaully have decent exhibits even though they are a bit old.

Perhaps a whole new species? Anybody knows?

Wasn't this enclosure originally for Polar Bears? There were common Seals in it last time I was in Cologne. The Sealions have a separate pool from this complex of enclosures that has an old artificial rockwork 'spire' in the centre.

The other sealion pool is still there. There are historical displays for this pool that show seals and sealion together going through some pretty weird training.

The weird training was research of scientists with the animals. For the animals it was just fun.

In this exhibit original lived polarbears.

It's only used for raptor shows? Seems like the sun bears might have used the space a bit better ;)

After the deat of the asian black bear the sunbears have now 3 enclosures next to each other. So why bring one or two of them into a enclosure what don't have a indoors, cause it was broken down for a quarantaine long ago?! ;)
