The Los Angeles Zoo has an incredibly diverse collection of animals, but when I visited in August of 2008 I was very disappointed in the level of exhibitry at the zoo. Even the fairly new orangutan and gorilla enclosures are very poor in my mind, and so I have often been negative towards the zoo as a whole. However, I must say that the new Francois' langur exhibit appears to be terrific!:) I saw the enclosure that was originally deemed suitable for golden monkeys, but I've always loved Francois' langurs and I think that they are one of the best possible substitutes. It's wonderful to see the L.A. Zoo actually produce a top-notch zoo habitat, and hopefully that continues with the $42 million Asian elephant complex.

It would be interesting to review this 15 years on. This habitat is still excellent and the reptile development is superb. I am also a big fan of the elephant enclosure but judging by the response on this forum ROTA was greeted with more mixed reviews!
