KevinB 11 Nov 2018 According to these signs the following species are kept free-ranging in the Desert: - Turkey vulture (Cathartes aura) - White-winged dove (Zenaida asiatica) - Socorro dove (Zenaida graysoni) - Scaled quail (Callipepla squamata) - Gambel's quail (Callipepla gambelii) - Blue-winged teal (Spatula discors) - Yellow grosbeak (Pheucticus chrysopeplus) - Lawrence's goldfinch (Carduelis lawrencei) - Mexican house finch (Carpodacus mexicanus) - Northern cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) - Ultramarine grosbeak (Cyanoloxia brissonii) - Painted bunting (Passerina ciris) During my visit I saw half of these twelve species: turkey vulture, white-winged and Socorro dove, scaled quail, yellow and ultramarine grosbeak.
