More great pictures, Baldur. I've seen very few pictures of the 'old' Fuengirola Zoo, and these here show it to be a fairly grim place. How miserable must the existence of this bear been? I'm guessing that there wasn't too much shade in this pit, and the playful habits of the holidaying public, and their tendency to drop things into such pits, would have only added to the fun. Horrible.

With this 12-photo set from Fuengirola I'm done and so glad! This has been incredible work, but the comments and questions I usually get make the work worth it.
When I was there, some bits remained of the old zoo, such as a large male Orangutan in a tiny cage. I didn't take a photo of it even if the manager said I could; he had nothing to hide, they had bought the zoo and were changing everything. It doesn't take much imagination to see what kind of a place it has been, but it now belongs to the past, and I do need to return at some point to see the changes since 2001.
