The oldest section of the zoo (Red Barn area) has been demolished in preparation for $7 million worth of new investments. There will be zero animals but a much-needed plaza for families near the 5-acre Children's Adventure Trails and Alaskan Waterpark. With the 1977 Cat Complex also being demolished next year, then the entire zoo is going to be a very young facility with many new exhibits.
