Almost all of the new plans for the aquarium do not involve any live animals, but I'm ecstatic nonetheless. Since I've had 3 kids in the past 4 years it has been a struggle to sit down and eat at the aquarium as the café is outside and while covered it is always extremely chilly in the winter and people huddle over their fish n' chips while eating as fast as they can. By next summer an all-indoor restaurant will open and it is long overdue!
Also, with the aquarium setting an all-time record of one million visitors last year an expanded entrance plaza, entrance and gift shop was desperately required. This way the aquarium will become quite a bit larger and crowds will hopefully be dispersed throughout the building. Currently there are a number of exhibits closed down in the Amazon gallery in preparation for the millions of dollars that are being spent on the revitalization of this establishment that opened in 1956.
