Giant Eland

Galápagos fur seal (Arctocephalus galapagoensis) 2012

After seeing plenty of sea lions but zero fur seals on my first 6 days, I had a few hours to spare between when my tour ended and when I had to leave. My tour guide suggested taking a taxi from the South of Santa Cruz where we were to the North of the Island to have my best chance. Once I was there, I needed to hire local fishermen to take me on a small boat along the north coast of the island to look for fur seals. After a good 45 minutes of frantic searching, I finally found a few I was able to snap photos of, making the entire endeavor completely worth it!
