This is the world's largest giant tortoise, with a maximum carapace length of 130 cm and a weight of over 300 kg.
It is endangered and its import and export are regulated by the Washington Convention. The iZoo's Galapagos tortoise is a male, called "Lac.
As of 2012, all Galapagos turtles bred in Japan are male and cannot reproduce.
iZoo is currently in discussions with the Republic of Ecuador to introduce females.
By applying the breeding techniques we have developed with the Aldabra tortoises, we will breed the rare Galapagos tortoises and contribute to the preservation of the species.
