Gambian giant pouched rat (Cricetomys gambianus) during smell training, 2007-07-22

Species kept from 2007 to 2017. The exhibit featured education on the use of these rats to smell explosive devices. For a brief period they did smell training publicly on a table outside the exhibit, this photo was taken during such a session.
