Bulu was so distinctive facially I'm sure I could still identify any photo of her. Give me 200 photos of closeup Orangutan faces and I'm sure I could pick out any which were of Bulu.
Last year I saw a photo of an orangutan in Amneville France and I 'recognised' her as Julitta from Jersey(and previously Bristol) even though I was unaware at the time she had been transferred there. Again it is because I had known her a very long time.

A family member once accompanying me to the zoo asked me how I could tell the orangs apart and I replied "Well, it's obvious, isn't it?". She also queried how they recognised me and I said "Why wouldn't they?".
The first anniversary of Bulu's death (May 7) is approaching and there's still no sign of the supposedly planned memorial to her
They've got two very natural islands. Some officials from Sabah visited Paignton to give a talk about orangs in 2005 and were very impressed by the enclosure.
