The specimens shown in this photo are females, any idea what happened to the male ?
Beautifull animals which have long been abscent from Europe. Tierpark Berlin now got since several weeks 2 pairs of them !

I believe the zoo got a new male for breeding. Maybe they haven't introduced him yet. Also, the female on the left looks pregnant and I can't really tell, but the female on the top right might also be pregnant.

The LA Zoo's Gerenuk herd is constantly breeding and that may be why they were able to send some animals to Berlin. There is always at least 3-4 young in the nursery and always at least one female pregnant.

Unfortunately on my last trip to Los Angeles Zoo (When I took this photo), there were no baby gerenuks in the nursery, but hopefully there will be more soon !!!

It is interesting that Tierpark Berlin is getting Southern gerenuks (Litocranius walleri walleri) because most of the gerenuks that lived in European zoos were Northern gerenuks (Litocranius walleri sclateri)
