Giant Elands (Taurotragus derbianus)

How many Giant elands does the zoo hold now?

Currently, they have a herd of five. Which consists of a single castrated male and four females.

@Austin the Sengi ah thank you for letting me know. Why did they have to castrate the male? That is unfortunate that they did... Also, when was the last time Zoo Miami bred Giant elands?

From what I have read on the “Giant Eland Left in North America” thread. I believe that either late 2019 or early 2020 was the last time that the zoo successfully bred giant eland with the birth of several calves during that time.
