This multi-acre exhibit looks fairly dusty, and does anyone know how many times it has been replanted since it made its public debut? That was a minor concern in the past, as the entire Giants of the Savanna zone is brilliant but Texas is incredibly dry and dusty in the summer and it will be interesting to note how much the zoo spends on reseeding the landscape.

These photos are from last April, so a landscape coming out of winter.
To my knowledge, the turf was renovated once because of an early failure.
Any exhibit such as this ought to be evaluated annually and reseeded as needed. That is not to completely replace the grass, but rather to keep it full.
What are you referring to? The Toronto Zoo sent away its elephants.
Anyways, this whole exhibit complex looks fantastic. Even though the elephant exhibit has some dust in it, it has much more grass than almost every other elephant exhibit I've ever seen.
