Giraffe 1966

From a slide taken by my father, developed May 1966. This was the original Giraffe exhibit that became the Camel House and eventually the Wallaby paddock (now in the larger Australian area). Apparently so many Elephants were imported on one occasion some were boarded in this house overnight.

I'm trying to get my bearings looking at this photograph. Is that part of the main Flamingo Lake? If you look on my map here the giraffes are placed at No 23. If that's where this photo was taken, in what direction is the camera is pointing towards?

Yes that's where it is. The camera is pointing towards the Flamingo Lake. The people are on the path that ran down from the end of the Bear exhibit to the path around the Flamingo Lake (turn left to the Dingos and Wolves).

cheers for that. Wonder if that's the same tree (on the right) I photographed near the lake... hmm. If so it's still there.
