Mainly all of the stalls are moveable. This enables the zoo to increase or change the size of the stalls incase of a new arrival, privacy or medical reasons. To start of with Lily and Isha the new female giraffes were kept in half of the indoor area to the left of the picture.
I much prefer the 'open' style of indoor housing for Giraffe- as at most other zoos e.g. London, Whipsnade, Africa Alive, Marwell, Chester, paignton etc. etc. These individual(and ugly) metal strong boxes detract from being able to see the animals properly. Most other zoos don't have these and instead use simple divisions which seem perfectly adequate. Also to me the best experience of seeing Giraffe closeup is to view their immense height- far more effective from ground level, so I think visually this is a non-starter.
It is part of a very large building 'Out of Africa' which contains all the indoor housing for Giraffe, Zebra, White Rhino, Kudu and Ostrich which all mix together outdoors. The individual indoor pens for all are like these.
There are two levels- the ground level with all the stalls, and a visitor/ public level above which looks down onto the stalls area(this photo shows a small part of it). Obviously the ground level is not accessible to visitors.
The large wooden floored upper level also contains smaller exhibits- fish, reptiles etc and is really quite good- but I don't like the complex holding pens underneath- reminds me of a slaughterhouse...

Its actually called "Kimgdom of the Wild". As far as I know there isn't anything quite like this exhibit in terms of mixing african animals although I have a feeling there might be at Port Lymph?

I think several of the Safari Parks, and Port Lympne's 'African experience' have similar mixes of animals, at least during the summer months, though none may involve this exact same mixture of species, e.g. white rhino with Giraffe.
