Giraffe Statue

July 20th, 2015.
For the benefit of those who have not been there, I will explain the entry layout. The highway you see in front (with a single vehicle at time of photo) is a major freeway that runs in front of the zoo. This photo was taken from the offramp of the freeway going (I think) southbound. He would then turn left onto a street bridge over the freeway, left again onto a frontage road towards the statue, and right into the driveway to the parking lot. Dallas Zoo charges a rather hefty fee for parking, something most American zoos offer for free.

If you arrive by light rail (as I have several times) or by bus, the station is on the opposite side of the zoo and you will never see the giraffe statue. The light rail station is right across from the entrance and is actually a shorter walk than from a car in the parking lot. A light rail ticket (or bus ticket) is also cheaper than the parking fee. I realize for Snowleopards cross country journey a car is needed, but for those staying overnight the light rail is the best option.
