Givskud Zoo - Pygmy hippo exhibit

  • Media owner Toddy
  • Date added
Part of the right side of the exhibit for pygmy hippotamus (Choeropsis liberiensis liberiensis) in Givskud Zoo.
The whole exhibit is divided in two parts with a visitor walkway in between. Both parts feature grassy land areas, tress and a large pool + small mud hole. In the background you can see the walkthrough exhibit for Barbary macaques (Macaca sylvanus).

The exhibit opened in 1998 as part of the new African area around P2 for visitors to experience on foot. Originally this exhibit also featured marabou stork (Leptoptilos crumeniferus) but since Givskud Zoo no longer wants to keep pioned birds, they moved out in 2012.
