It was late in the day and few people left in the zoo. I was by the chimpanzee exhibit along with some others, including parents with a restless baby that was crying rather loudly. It was interesting to see how much interest the chimpanzees seemed to take in the baby as it was crying; two of them gathered by the moat, in fact got as close as they could, and seemed to observe the baby and listen to its cries with interest.
