I work at a photo lab and customers come in all the time with pictures of bobcats in their backyard. They are extremely common in Tucson and in fact this may be the best place in the country to see them. (Of course they do not roam around the middle of the city, but anyone who lives on the edge or near a wash has a good chance of seeing them.) I have seen them a couple times myself, one time very close on a bike path right across a wash from the large Tucson Mall, but have never been able to get a photo.
They are also extremely common in US zoos, especially in the Southwest.
