It is interesting to note that Cleveland Zoo still has at least one Golden-Bellied Mangabey as this species is very much a rarity in American zoos these days.

...Which is exactly why I made sure to take advantage of the prime photo opportunity this individual provided me! They actually still have a pair of golden-bellied mangabeys, this male and a female that happens to be diabetic and is currently the subject of a research project. The Cleveland Zoo is still home to quite a few primates that have become quite rare in zoos; however, unfortunately, most of these relic species are still held in the relic that is the Primate, Cats, and Aquatics building!
 
And even in Europe they are struggling. Is there anywhere that has actually bred them in the last few years?
Maybe the new male at Budapest [born in San Antonio, then at Montpellier, came to Budapest in April] will get it on with some of the zoo's 5 females.
