Werribee have a nice, spacious exhibit and just three bachelor males to fill it. It’ll be interesting to see if they hold a family troop once their males pass on.
@Jambo It’ll be interesting to see how the region’s gorilla population pans out, but I think we’ll see an increasing number of zoos accomodating what they breed - as Taronga will be doing. Werribee’s exhibit is a perfect example of how this could be done with a starting population of 1.2 breeding at eight year intervals and offspring retained into adulthood (sons castrated; daughters on contraception).
