An absolutely one-off, unique enclosure.I am not aware of anything else remotely like this for great apes. The result of thinking about the animals and not giving a hoot about trendy architectural notions. In practically every other zoo you are cut off from the gorillas by armoured glass or moats that would be the envy of a medieval castle.Hopefully more zoos will come to realize that metalwork is essential in zoo husbandry and when incorporated in enclosures with ample enrichment, absolutely does not need to be synonymous with sterile cages.Top points to Port Lympne for going with what works rather than with what is fashionable.
