I am a huge fan of squirrels and love to see a well designed and nicely enriched enclosure.This one would be good if improved by the addition of a spacious outdoor enclosure.
One can tell so much about a zoo from the way they keep their more common animals.Any zoo will make a major effort on their enclosures for Komodo dragons or okapis, but only the truly exceptional zoo will go the full mile for a squirrel.A useful rule of thumb, I find.
Its a little weird to see a squirrel in a cage, while there are thirty running around wild. Theign mentions that it has hand raised.
That is a good point you raise, and one of the reasons I love Saint Louis, because they focus on animals that the average person wouldn't care much about.
