This used to be one of the zoo's major exhibits. It was originally built for tigers in the early 1960s, as part of the zoo's "India-Burma" section. Then, as older photo on this site mentioned, circa 1967/68-1992 this was home to the lions. After that it was (much more appropriately) home to blue and gold macaws for a couple decades.
