Great hornbill with prey

I didn't see the hornbill catch this bird, which I think is a young Java sparrow, which must have found its way into the hornbill aviary. The hornbill repeatedly shook the corpse releasing lots of feathers and finally cached it in the top of the nest log. Tropical house, Chester, 15th February 2016.

Thank you for the comments. It was rather gruesome to see this, but it was worthwhile recording it. I really don't know how the hornbill caught the little one, it must have been rather like an Airbus catching Harrier jump-jet.

Maybe it just got just a little too close, hornbills can be quick as lightning when snatching food items!
