Most common woodpecker-species in the Netherlands. In 2013 - 2015 annually 75.000 / 100.000 breeding-pairs were counted.
This means that the population has doubled since 1990 and in the lower parts of the country even a sevenfold increase in the number of breeding-pairs ! Reason for this is that in these part the number of larger trees also has increased clearly.
