A species that I die for!!! I think that there are none in European zoos :(

In the wild.

In the wild.

Wow that's a great photo. The junglefowls that I've seen in captivity are generally quite unimpressive (e.g. just look like domestic chickens) but this one is stunning.

I've only seen Sri Lankan and Green Junglefowl (at Central Park and Bronx, who now supposedly has both), but of those two the Green is my favorite and I suspect seeing the others wouldn't change that.

Bronx only had 0.1 for a long time but recently they've now gone up to 1.2:)

Indeed; the last one died at Tier-und-Freizeitpark Thüle early this year :( although there are a tiny number in private hands, I believe.

Until a handful of years ago, a trip to Zoo Berlin would have allowed you to see all four species side-by-side! Funny thing is, the same goes for Hamerton Zoo in the mid-1990s :p

We need desperately much more junglefowl again in European zoos, of all the three species other than the Red.
My mother was fortunate enough to see Grey Junglefowl in the wild, and took a magnific photo. However my own photo (from Taipei Zoo) shows the bird behind the wires of the fence :( Very tipical of pheasants and partridges to stay near the fence, the nearest possible to visitors when they're very tame...
