I didn't walk down this path when I was there earlier this month, so I missed the zebras. But this photo makes their exhibit look much more sparse than I remember from previous years. Did the zoo staff clear it out, or have the zebras just gradually eaten and worn down all the plants?
There have been a few trees removed. I'm pretty sure the goal of which was to open up views into the back half of the exhibit. As far as the grass goes, it never was very lush in there. Always been kind of a desert scrub exhibit, which is perfect for Grevy's zebras.
