Did you know you know they had this species when you decided to visit? Or was it an exciting surprise? I'd be tempted to engineer a visit just to see this species.
@LaughingDove I'd never been to Asia before and I had no idea that Sriayuthaya Lion Park had Grizzled Tree Kangaroos before I toured the facility. It was a wonderful surprise. This zoo has more than 60 mammal species, including 28 primate species.
By the end of my trip, I saw Grizzled Tree Kangaroos at SIX zoos in Southeast Asia. Amazing!
It certainly looks like you had a great trip! A number of Indonesian zoos seem to have them but as my parents live in Bangkok a visit here is probably my best chance to see them at some point.
It looks like this zoo is close to Ayutthaya if I'm looking at the right place?
@LaughingDove The trip was mind-blowing and I was with @twilighter almost the entire time and he's a species-finder extraordinaire! Yes, the Lion Park is only around 30 minutes north from Ayutthaya. It's well worth the trip, even though there are a few very poor sections such as the Chimpanzees, Asian Elephants, and drugged big cats used for photo opportunities. I saw a Jaguar with no barriers whatsoever and for a fee one can sit with the animal.
