It is hard to see now how these exhibits that I grew up with were truly wretched.
The grizzly bear pit here is now a slightly better retirement exhibit for some elderly spotted hyenas. Hopefully once they pass this whole exhibit will too.
I look back on these pictures to remind me of how much this zoo has come far. Even if maybe 90% percent of the exhibits are more for functuality then aestheticly, don't you think the zoo now has better exhbits than this one here. This is a HUGE step-up considering they raised and earned all the money to provide visitors with the exhibits they have now. Possibly in the near future, many of these outdated exhibts will be transformed into the zoo we all expect it to be. They've already finished the otter and giraffe exhibits. I still have complete faith in that this zoo WILL go far. By looking at the master plan (posted by gereunk), I belive that in the future, the zoo will make great progress and could quite possibly be one of the top 100 zoos in the USA.
