@Onychorhynchus coronatus Their botanical collections of rainforest and American desert plans are pretty cool. Unsurprisingly they are also an officially recognized botanical collection.
@KevinB I absolutely love cacti (I collect them) so I'm very impressed with the size of these saguaros and the landscaping of this enclosure, very beautiful indeed.
@Onychorhynchus coronatus They are definitely very impressive, although perhaps not as large as in the American deserts these cacti are very large and definitely the biggest I've ever seen. It says something that they gave metal supports to some of them. And personally I find Burgers' Desert a very impressive ecodisplay altogether. Burgers' Zoo is definitely one of the must see zoos in the Netherlands.
There may be some point of criticism, such as the peccary paddock which is quite small, the nocturnal exhibits which are really dark and very difficult for viewing and/or photography, and perhaps the Desert bighorn sheep, although having a decent exhibit, should have outdoor access, but it is still a very impressive exhibit that has stood the test of time well (it first opened in 1994), despite substantial changes in the collection and some rarer species no longer being present.
