Notice this bird in the African Rainforest during my last couple visits. Managed to get a decent shot today. He's in the area with the Spotted-Necked Otter.

Is this the only one, or are there other Hammerkops?

When I talked to a keeper last year, I'm pretty sure they said there was only one. I don't know if that's changed though. The hammerkop is one of my favourite birds at the zoo so thank you for sharing this photo.

As of the last SSP the zoo only had one, a male named Homer. This could be outdated. I have only seen one on any of my visits.

There are 2 males. Homer lives by the otters and a second male lives in the small aviary behind the softshell turtle (the one off the pathway where you can't really see what birds are in there). The story I heard was that the 2 males didn't get along and had to be separated. Homer has been around for years. He has a bowl of fish that sits near the doors by the crocodile and he can often be found near that area or by the other door.

Thanks for the tidbit. I'll see if I can spot the second Hammerkop during my next visit. Would make sense to keep the males apart.
