This was taken in the city of Maalaea on the island Maui. I have a book about Hawaii's marine invertebrates, but there's nothing in there that looks like this. I know its a land crab, as before I caught it, it was crawling around the beach and it had trouble swimming when I chased it into the water. It looks like some sort of fiddler crab, since it has long eyes and one of its claws is bigger than the other, but I'm pretty sure they don't live in Hawaii. It also has a weird ring-shaped mark on its back.
