It was originally intended to house leopards! It's this kind of thinking (trying to cram as many species as possible into the themed areas) that diminishes the overall experience of many of Omaha's exhibits. There is a lot of creativity here, but just too many animals confined to areas that are not big enough.

The netted enclosure on the left held two bat-eared foxes and the open-topped habitat on the right held meerkats and at least two klipspringers on my July 6th visit. The main issue here is that the foxes barely have any space and the meerkats/klipspringers exist in an exhibit that is almost entirely cement.
