From the surface this is perhaps one of the world's truly great hippo exhibits, but underwater viewing is a magnificent addition to any pool and I only wish that Werribee had unlimited funds to create an underwater viewing area. Seeing swimming hippos at the San Diego Zoo, Calgary Zoo, Toledo Zoo, etc, has been fantastic.
It could be done with a few major renovations to the barge. Which initially was going to have some scientific equipment to listen to hippo noises under the water and things like that. Another thing that I'd like done is some egyptian geese added. They have some free range around Melbourne Zoo.
